Our programme of talks for the new season is now available. We are presenting a varied programme of eight talks ranging over subjects from the Battle of Stirling Bridge to 19th Century arctic exploration. We start on Thursday, 16th September 2025 at 7:30pm in the Abbey Church Halls, Dunfermline when Bob Young will present “Life as a Miner”.
Bob was NUM Branch Chair at Comrie Colliery in 1984 when the Miner’s Strike started. In 1986, when the strike ended and the colliery was closed, he was elected as a local councillor for the Labour Party. He later served on Fife Council, finally standing down in 2017. He sees his role in the regeneration of Abbeyview as one of the biggest contributions he made during his time in local government.
