April 2025 Talk – Update on the East Lomond Dig

Joe Fitzpatrick FSA will give us an update on the ongoing archaeological dig of the Pictish Hill Fort near the top of East Lomond Hill. Joe has spoken to us before, in 2018, but there has significant new work on the site in 2022 and 2023. It will be fascinating to hear the latest findings.

Joe is Chairman and a Trustee of the Falkland Stewardship Trust and amongst other duties leads on archaeological activities on the estate. Since his retirement as Head of Service in Education and then Communities Services with Fife Council, he devotes much of his time to history and archaeology.  Joe lives in Fife and is married with two grown up sons.
